Critical sports update during the VT -Kansas Game?

While watching the VT vs Kansas game the television screen chimed, indicating that there was about to be an update some interesting event happening elsewhere.  To my surprise, all the popped up were the results of the Iowa Caucus. Really?  The results of the Iowa Caucus during a BCS football game?
