Covenant Eschatology: Everything Must Change
Hope for the Future. That is what preterism should be about. But often times, all I see from the preterist camp is a group of individuals who only care about being accurate about a bunch of times and dates. Too often, it seems, the message is more about being right ,rather than being a loving, compassionate, revolutionary of hope.
I started to look to a preteristic view because I believed that God, in the outpouring of his love for all of humanity, through Jesus Christ finished his work, and that his finished work is the springboard from which Everything Can Change.
In writing an article based on the book “Everything Must Change” by Brian McLaren, Virgil Vaduva of PlanetPreterist.com says this:
“Eschatological change therefore, as we see it presented is not theological or scholastic in nature, because it is rooted in the message of hope given by Christ, which is a message of redemption, love and equity. Change unequivocally has to involve the hearts of people for it to be effective, and that is what many Christians today fail to realize: the answer is to be found in people’s hearts.” - Virgil Vaduva Read the rest of this article here.
Isn’t that the point? Isn’t the the only relevant change in this world going to happen on the inside of people… in our hearts and minds? We must remember that whatever our take is on any biblical issue, “Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.” (1 Corinthians 8:1)
Thanks for the link, and I agree with your statement “Too often, it seems, the message is more about being right ,rather than being a loving, compassionate, revolutionary of hope.”
We are hoping to change that
